Jan. 17 — DEADLINE
for the I.D. Student Design Review Competition
What to enter: student work in industrial, graphic and interactive
design. One Best of Show winner will get $1,000 cash; all winning
entries will be posted at id-mag.com and featured in the September/October
2005 issue of I.D.; 1,000 copies of this issue, along with introductory
letters, will be sent to design firms, Fortune 500 companies and
recruiting firms.

Feb. 4-8 — TDCTJHTBIPC (Park
City, Utah)
Now in its third decade, this intimate annual conference, attended by 150 graphic
designers, art directors, illustrators, photographers, educators, and students
is arguably the most casual yet the most stimulating and invigorating conference
one can attend. Four days of speaker presentations, Data Blitzes, student portfolio
reviews, a roundtable discussion, a mixer, a banquet, and of course... some
time to ski.
Feb. 18 — DEADLINE
for the American Illustration 24 Competition
All forms of published, unpublished, and personal illustration created or
published between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004. International publications,
agencies, reps, corporate etc. who have published North American illustrators.
Entries may be submitted by Illustrators; art directors, editors, designers
in editorial, advertising, corporate; book publishers; representatives; educators;
and students.
Feb. 25 — 365: AIGA Annual
Design Competitions
This competition extends a legacy that began more than 85 years ago and is
widely recognized as one of the most selective statements on design excellence
today.

Ranch: The Wild Frontier (Hunt, Texas; Waldemar Guest Ranch)
One hundred
fifty creatives will decend upon Waldemar Guest Ranch in Hunt, TX for three
days of creative rebirth as professional
artists and designers from around the US lead workshops designed
to rekindle the creative fire within each of us. Since its debut
in 1999 Design Ranch has evolved into a nationally recognized event
focusing on inspired thinking and individual creative development.

The MYOB Conference will return in 2005 as a biennial
